FBReader for Android 2.7 (both free and Premium) will be released by end of July 2016. This version will fix a number of annoying issues related to migration to Android 6:

  • “Lost” bookmarks for books on SD card will be restored.

The New Year release fixes a number of annoying issues in both Free and Premium versions. The only new feature is a new option for left (“book”) menu. Swipe gesture for opening this menu is now disabled by default. You can use three-line button in the upper left corner, or enable the gesture in the “Appearance” section of the settings dialog.

This is the biggest update since 2.0 release. FBReader 2.6 for Android completes transition to material design. We preserved the FBReader rendering engine and other features, but changed the look and feel of controls, dialogs, and other UI elements.

The reading mode menu is now split to left (“book”) and right (“main”) menus. This feature is configurable, user can move items between book and main menus.

Other major changes:

  • Custom shelves synchronisation
  • Fast scroll and alphabetic index in the bookshelf (swipe finger along the right edge of the list)
  • New page numbering algorithm and page numbers in the table of contents
  • Editable authors and tags in the book dialog
  • Simple widgets
